One Young World Belfast 2023
Normally due to time constraints I would need to stick to one of my design templates for bid documents, but One Young World deserved something better. Given almost full autonomy, I got to spend several weeks pouring over every design element of the bid document. Being afforded so much time and freedom was one of the highlights of my career so far and I think it shows.
One of the only instructions I was given was the cover must feature a collage of images to showcase the location. I opted to use the sharp branding of ‘Belfast’ to my advantage and create a mosaic effect and applied this throughout the document to keep everything cohesive.
The squares either contained the best imagery of the destination/venue or was used to display mockups of the city, pull quotes or to otherwise draw attention to specific information.

Final Product
In addition to the standard bid document I spoke with our sales team and suggested that perhaps we go the extra mile and really up the ante on our presentation. Given that the conference is aimed at younger generations I wanted to keep the overall look and feel of the bid bright, fresh and clean. To achieveĀ this I spread out the information, I used large pull quotes and most if not all pages featued imagery to break up the text.
Belfast has a rich history of embracing graffiti as a form of expression during turbulent times and I felt this needed to be acknowledged. I hand cut a stencil of the One Young World logo and created a spray painted presentation box for the bid document to sit in.
Afterwards we wrapped the box in a cyan bow to really bring the whole vision together. As a final way to truly sperate us from our competitors we sent the whole bid document in a basket with local treats from Belfast along with Belfast made products. The last of these items were purchased en route to handing the bid in for submission so unforunately I do not have any photos of the final basket with all of the contents.
